Common Fridge & Freezer Repair Problems

Ever have a problem with your freezer you haven't been able to fix? You're not alone - there are many fridge and freezer problems that are very common, and it's not always obvious how to fix them. Here are some of the most common fridge and freezer issues and how to deal with them.

Your freezer isn't cold enough
This is a common issue that can be very confusing to solve. There are two common causes of this issue. The first potential cause is the evaporator fan. If you can't feel any air blowing from the vents in your freezer or don't hear the fan running, it probably needs to be fixed. If the fan is running, then the issue may be caused by the compressor. Usually, you'll just need to clean the compressor to get it cooling more effectively again.

The fridge is too loud
This usually happens when your fridge is cycling too often in an attempt to keep the food cold. Not only is the noise annoying, but it results in your fridge using up more unnecessary energy as well. If this is happening with your fridge, you will want to start by checking the temperature on your fridge. Raising it even slightly may help to fix the problem, as the fridge won't have to work as hard to keep your food cold.

Your fridge is leaking water onto the floor
This common issue is usually a sign that your fridge's drainage system isn't working properly. You'll need to go into your defrost drain to find whatever is clogging it and remove the problem. If this doesn't work, you may have a clog or leak in your water supply valve.

While these problems may sound daunting, they usually aren't particularly difficult to fix.
